Migration to and from Greater London 1984-95: An irregular escalator?

要旨：1980年代後半のバブル景気の中心であったロンドンはしかしバブル崩壊後に人口流出の減少と人口の再獲得を開始した。これは粗流入の増加によるものではなく、粗流出の減少によるものであったため、高騰していた住宅価格の急落のためにロンドンの持ち家居住者が郊外に移転できなくなったためと考えられる。民間賃貸住宅の希少なイギリスでは、（持家居住者の）人口移動を可能にするものとして、移動もとでの住宅の資本実現を行うことが重要である。
要旨：空間経済の歴史発展過程において、空間分業の未発展状態・空間分業の初期状態・空間分業の発達状態というような段階的発展過程があるという理論仮説を打ち立て、それを用いて中国経済を分析する。それにより、何故地域格差が各国に存在し、また中国のそれが何故他国に比べて図抜けて大きいか、中国の改革開放は経済の地域構造にどのような影響を与え、地域格差を拡大させたのかそれとも縮小させたのか、といった問いに答えを試みる。

An economic theory of regional clusters: Think globally and act locally

要旨：This paper investigates the impact of localization economies on firms’ locations. It is known that such external effects lead to substantial cost reductions when firms are located together. However, when they are agglomerated, firms also face the prospects of tough price competition whose intensity can be relaxed through product differentiation. In addition, their access to isolated markets varies with the level of transport costs. As a result, there is a trade-off whose solution depends on the structural parameters of the economy. The market and optimal solutions are compared for the case of small and large groups of firms.
