研究内容
ミクロ理論，貿易理論，経済動学などで開発されてきた手法に基づいて，市場の質という新しい概念を定式化し，成長，イノベーション，産業革命といった現象との関係を研究しています．伝統的な経済学では，市場の機能の高さは効率性という概念で計られてきました．市場の質は効率性に公正性という視点を加え，市場に課せられたルールの適切さやルール順守の程度によって市場の機能を計測するものです．ルールを基準にとするのは，市場が競争を通じて機能するものだからです．一般に，競争とは，特定の目標を共有する複数の主体が目標に合わせて設定されたルールのもとで，他の主体よりも先に目標を達成しようとする営為です．そのため，市場の機能は市場での活動に課されたルールの良し悪しやルール順守の度合いに影響されます．こうした見方にたって，市場の質を高めるにはどのようなルールが必要か，さらには，なぜ高質な市場が必要なのか，といった問題を解明しなくてはなりません．特に最近は，2023年にProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences に発表した論文にもとづいて，市場の高質化がイノベーションの活性化に果たす役割を研究してます．
