ADBI−KIER Employee Survey on Education and Training
for Selected Manufacturing Firms
in Thailand and Philippines

京都大学21世紀COEプログラム「先端経済分析のインターフェース拠点の形成」・「経済情報解析研究グループ」では、有賀健教授によって、教育と訓練の経済効果に関する大規模なサーベイ・実証研究のプロジェクトが遂行されています。その成果の一環として、以下のデータベースを、学術研究目的に限り、希望者に公開します。
概要
本データは、アジア開発銀行研究所（ ADBI ）の資金援助のもとで、京都大学経済研究所 有賀 健 教授を中心とする共同研究者が、 2001 年に実施した、製造業 47 社の従業員約 4000 名の従業員からの聞き取り調査および対象企業提供のデータからなる。第一の特徴は、訓練について 1998-2002 年の年度毎に、その内容・時間について詳細な情報と同期間の年度別賃金を含むことである。また、教育、家庭環境、出身地域、家族構成についても詳細なデータを得ている。データは教育、訓練の効果やその相互作用を分析するのに適している。一方、サンプル企業が大規模企業に限られており、当該国全体の労働者全体の母集団からはかけ離れたサンプルであることに留意する必要がある。

The ADBI-KIER is based on the survey conducted by a research team headed by Kenn Ariga at KIER and it is funded by Asian Development Bank Institute. The survey covers roughly 4000 employees at 47 selected manufacturing firms in Thailand and Philippines . The data includes detailed information on types and time spent on various trainings each employee received during 1998-2002. The data also contains average wage rate for the same period. This portion of the data comprises 4 year panel for the sample employees. The data also covers education, family background and region of birth. The data is thus suitable for analyses of impacts of education and training on wage, as well as their interactions. On the other hand, the data covers only employees from large scale firms. As a result, the sample employees are not very representative of the workers in the two countries.
